Experience Summary
Upon expressing an interest in math my freshman year in college, my Calculus professor immediately requested that I peer-tutor at my college's Learning Resource Center. Helping others to understand math only deepened my appreciation for the subject and I received my B.S. in Mathematics. I went to a liberal arts college so I had to take many different types of courses. I find this helpful because now I am responsible for tutoring reading, math, some sciences, and writing skills.
Teaching Style
I love seeing the transformation in a student when they slowly start to gain the confidence that they need. Knowing that I play a part in this process is why I love to tutor. I get to know the student, and figure out what they think their struggles are. Then I pay close attention as we work to see if there is anything else. Then we work from there. The important thing is teaching the concept, while also fostering the student's confidence to master it. That's how I tutor.
