Experience Summary
My 22 years of professional experience as a CPA is quite diverse. I have served as an auditor, analyst, and consultant, while performing a wide range of tasks, from internal audits to financial modeling to legal research. I also have nine total years in public accounting, where I dealt with fundamental accounting issues every day. In all that I do, however, there is a consistent thread--I get the right answers because I ask the right questions. I channel this into helping students ask their own questions in search of their own answers.
I also have delivered several Continuing Professional Education sessions to my fellow CPAs, and have experience in front of a classroom as a graduate assistant at Auburn University.
Teaching Style
In my professional career, I enjoy taking a problem, breaking it down into its component parts, and solving each part as I work towards its solution. I also try to do this whenever I am showing someone how to do something, making sure that the person I am instructing is comfortable at each step of the way.
Without trying to sound too lofty, I would say that I use the “Socratic” method of instruction, asking the student questions that they can answer themselves, eventually enabling the student to ask his or her own questions.
