Experience Summary
As an English teacher, I have had the opportunities to work with many different ages and levels of students. From foreign kindergarten students through degree seeking college students and varying levels in between, I have learned many different skills to help me approach each learner with the tools that make learning easy and enjoyable. I have professional experience teaching Kindergarten, first grade, sixth grade language arts, and freshmen level college English. I also tutored as an undergraduate student, and have always been willing and excited to work with anyone needing a hand with English.
Teaching Style
From having been in the education field for over 10 years, I have come to learn that my teaching style is very much dependent on the learning style of the individual. Introducing young children to language requires a very different set of skills and expectations that teaching freshmen composition at the college level. I think the most important aspect of a teaching style is the ability to judge and modify instruction so that it is suited for the learner, and I always intend to teach the student, rather than just teach the material.
