Experience Summary
Ever since I was in High School, I have been drawn to chemistry and its education. I have helped many people in scientific and mathematical disciplines and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I first studied chemical engineering at FSU but then transferred to FAU to complete my ACD certified BS in chemistry. I then decided to continue with my Ph. D. in chemistry with a focus in biophysical chemistry because I wanted to remain in academics. I have a passion for teaching and a gift in being able to help people understand chemistry. I started off as an instructor for chemistry 1 and 2 lab instructors and then I was a recitation leader. Then I was promoted to be the General Chemistry Coordinator at FAU- a job I absolutely loved. I worked with up to 12 teachers who I trained in special recitation sessions made for students in order to help them understand chemistry better. Chemistry education is my passion.
Teaching Style
I think people automatically freeze up when they hear the word "chemistry". They are afraid of the math and theories and just the reputation chemistry has. People have had terrible teachers who had forced them to memorize things and focused on just naming compounds and a lot of the time they have not been exposed to true chemistry and how much fun it can be. I like to take chemistry and use visual presentations, real examples, and combine many methods in order to convey the material. I think that if a student can move beyond the fear of the word "chemistry" he/she will actually be able to learn a lot.
