Experience Summary
I recently graduated Ph.D. in Chemistry from one of the best chemistry programs in the country this past May. I had been a graduate student at Arizona State University for the past 5 years and I have essentially put myself through 9 years of college through dedication, hard work, and an undergraduate scholarship. I graduated 20th out of 456 students at Hamilton Southeastern High School and was awarded a full tuition alumni scholarship at Indiana State University. During the course of my undergraduate work, I developed a love for chemistry. I have had experience tutoring and teaching students in chemistry since 2004 and have loved every minute of it.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I will not only be relaying important information to my students, but also helping them grow as young adults. Effective teaching can help instill a desire to learn and responsibility in the students. There are a few key components I feel are important in order to be a successful teacher. These include preparation, interactive learning, and a desire to continue growing as a teacher.I feel that I will have taught successfully when my students succeed. If they can leave the session with a greater understanding and appreciation for science, I will feel that I’ve successfully completed my role as their teacher and coach.
