Experience Summary
Currently, I hold certifications in both Early Childhood Education and Childhood Education 1-6. This summer (2010), I will also be receiving my Master’s in Reading and obtaining an additional certification in Literacy. I have taught children in kindergarten and first, third, and fifth grades. As a result, I understand where children need to be as readers and writers during the primary years in order to experience success.
Teaching Style
It is my sincere hope that all of my students will feel empowered not only with knowledge, but with self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-determination. Recognizing that children learn differently, I make a conscious effort to develop lessons that not only appeal to each child’s sense of fun, but also appeal to his or her style of learning. I also like to encourage students to make their own discoveries and to construct their own knowledge. My desire to teach is driven by the knowledge that teachers have a tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their students. It is with this knowledge and with an open mind and heart that I approach my teaching.
