Experience Summary
I am a young engineer and Air Force officer highly motivated by the prospect of seeing others succeed. I have a B.S. in Industrial and Management Engineering which has given me ample experience in mathematics, most notably statistics, and the sciences. I have participated in a number of research projects where I have been given the opportunity to use what I’ve learned in practical applications. In addition to math and science, I am experienced in report writing and have excellent grammatical skills. I have two years experience tutoring older students math-related classes, and eight years experience tutoring children as young as eight in the violin and viola, both of which I am proficient in.
Teaching Style
Math and science did not always come easy to me as a student, so I know how frustrating it can be for someone to struggle in school. As a tutor, I work hard to give my students the confidence they need to succeed in and outside of the classroom. I find that it helps when students understand why the concept they’re working on is important and what it can actually be used for out in the real world. Focusing on this purpose gives students motivation, and I use this idea as often as possible. Furthermore, I pride myself on having a good, appropriate sense of humor and have the ability to keep the mood focused enough to get work done, yet light enough to alleviate some of the stress associated with working through difficult problems.
