Experience Summary
I have many and varied experiences in teaching music in the public schools and privately for over 30 years. I have my bachelors degree in music education-k-12 and I have almost finished my Master's degree in Music Education. My teaching experience includes classroom, vocal-choral, piano and band. During my years teaching in the public school system, I volunteered often for after-school activities organized in order to tutor the students in math, science, english, etc. I have also been a substitute teacher and have experience teaching several subjects which also included special education and emotional behavioral disabled children. I think I have gained a great understanding and insight of all the subjects required to tutor children.
Teaching Style
To develop responsible learners who will succeed in and contribute to a changing world is vital! Because of this, a student-centered education is important. A constructivism approach to learning is very important to me as opposed to the behavioralist approach that has dominated education. I strive to actively engage students in their own education. Also, it is important to me to determine the best learning style to use for each individual student. I am pleasant, outgoing and have a great sense of humor. I am dedicated and enthusiastic and patient and caring and I love teaching.
