Experience Summary
As a graduate of Florida International University (FIU) I consider myself a highly qualified teacher. Over the past three and a half years I have been employed by Dade County Public Schools. Currently, I teach Language Arts to students in 10th and 12th grade. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English education prepared me for tasks this year. During my first 2 years I was assigned to teach Intensive Reading. Thus, I perused a Masters degree in Reading Educations and I have had tremendous success with the skills and strategies that I learned in that degree program from FIU. Over the past three years, I have tutored students in Reading, FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) and ACT preparation.
Teaching Style
Over the years I have learned that the future of education lies in a partnership between the community, parents, students and educators. Each person shares the responsibility to prepare lifelong learners, who will become literate, self-disciplined, independent, creative, and confident individuals. Hence, I treat every student with the utmost respect and appreciation. I feel that education should build the foundation for each student and it is my responsibility as a teacher to provide that foundation for my students. I look at every student as an individual, eager to gain knowledge and to be successful. Every student has talents and I have the responsibility of creating the atmosphere for their talents to flourish.
