Experience Summary
I received my Masters degree in Elementary Education from Teachers College at Columbia University in 1994. My masters degree program was intensive in the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics but also impressed upon bringing all the subjects together so that learning is something that becomes as natural as breathing. I have acted as an assistant teacher, full time substitute teacher and finally a teacher over a period of 6 years in New York City and New Jersey. I have taught students from kindergarten through 6th grade. I have been in the business world for the past 7 years and have found that my editing skills are superb.
Teaching Style
I really do believe that everyone can learn to do anything with a little help and tutoring. Every learner has a dominant sensory mode in which they excel. Therefore, I try to use multiple senses throughout my lessons to make sure I reach them. I also try to tie together the student’s world into what he or she is learning to create enthusiasm about the learning process. I expect my students to learn and be successful and I won’t allow anything short of that! I am a lifelong believer that learning never ends.
