Experience Summary
I am a licensed MN French teacher. I speak near-native French. I taught ELL to French children and adults in Paris for 4 years, and in the US have taught ELL and French to kids from the ages of 5-18, and also have taught adults in community education programs.
I am happy to work with your student to target speaking, writing, memorizing vocabulary, understanding grammar... I offer the advantage of being a native English speaker first. I have been through the learning process myself and can often better explain it than a native French speaker can. (Imagine yourself trying to explain the present perfect tense to someone learning English!)
I also speak Spanish (conversational) and am able to tutor beginning levels of Spanish.
Teaching Style
I have a very communicative teaching style with languages, where it is important for the student to hear and speak the language as much as possible to learn it better. I also actively teach memory tricks (mnemonic devices, songs, etc) to help with memorization.
I am very patient. I am always working to find ways to teach to students with different abilities, in my own classroom, as well as during my year's experience as a teaching assistant in a Special Education department of a local high school.
