Experience Summary
As the result of three college degrees (BS, MBA, and EdD) plus 20 years as a college professor and researcher/analyst, I possess extentive experience teaching and using statistics, algebra, business math, research skills, report writing, and a variety of business disciplines. A 30 year passion for history has resulted in an encyclopedic knowledge of American and world history. Although I do not possess a credential in history, I have been told that what I know and the manner in which I present it makes it fascinating for the listener. I am not the boring, egg-head type, just a regular guy who will probably show up in blue jeans, who is enthusiastic, and who will set you/your student at ease right away.
Teaching Style
I do indeed love to teach. My approach is relaxed, well-prepared, encouraging, and humorous when appropriate. I prefer interactive communications. My passion for the subject matter is obvious in my enthusiasm. I am punctual but am not a clock-watcher. I am there for as long as someone needs me. I also make my phone number available in case a student needs to ask me a question. I like to start a tutoring/teaching process by developing mutually agreed-upon learning goals. Finally, I find that the most effective way to impart knowledge is to make it as real and applied as possible. The more I can relate the subject to the student's life, interests, and "world" in general the more likely it will resonate and take hold.
