Experience Summary
I am a musician and teacher at heart and within the past two years I have found a way to combine those two passions into the most rewarding job I've ever had. I've been teaching music lessons, usually with guitar, for well over a year now and I love every second of it. I'm in pursuit of getting a music degree right now and by teaching and taking classes, I'm learning more than I could have ever hoped for. I have been playing guitar for about six years and I'm completely self-taught. I do, however, know music theory and many other music fundamentals as well. I can also read and write sheet music.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is a very flexible style. I understand that everyone has a different method for learning and I have to adapt in order for the student to learn. Since I've mostly dealt with music for teaching experience, I'll refer to that area of expertise to illustrate my methods. I usually start off with ear training exercises because as a musician this is a must have skill. Then we go over basic aspects of music such as rhythm or basic chords. Eventually, after enough has been learned, I make the class more challenging and try to get the student to think in many different ways and allow them to be flexible with their minds as well.
