Experience Summary
I recently graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and am currently pursuing a BA in Mathematics at Hood College. This past year I was a teaching assistant for Statistics at Hood College in the Psychology department. I worked with a variety of students with very different backgrounds including those who do not consider themselves "math people" at all.
Teaching Style
I have tutored many different kinds of students, adjusting my teaching style to see what works best for them. I am very patient and can explain things in more than one way. I try to see how the student learns and understands best so that I can adjust and we can make the most of our time. It can be very frustrating for the student to not understand immediately, but breaking down the problem into multiple doable steps can give the student a sense of accomplishment as well as hope to try another problem. I always try to give the student more confidence in the subject and I want them to enjoy learning.
