Experience Summary
During my years at UCLA, I reached out to high school students, providing them with tutoring services and educational programs/trips to encourage under-represented students to pursue higher education. The mentorship program aimed to provide a strong mentor-mentee relationship that will not only help educate the students, but help guide the students through their high school years and pursue college. Having earned a BS in Psychobiology and performing research methods, I have a great understanding of many areas in science, math, psychology, language arts, English, and computers. I am also proficient in teaching the fundamentals of English, and I can speak Vietnamese and conversational Japanese.
Teaching Style
Because each student is different, he learns differently and at his own pace; hence, I strive to understand the student's capabilities and level and cater his learning to his best interest. I enjoy teaching and helping students learn of their potential and intelligence. I believe each student is capable of learning, and success if he dedicates the time and effort--and is given an appropriate environment where he feels comfortable. At the same time, I understand the importance of making learning fun and enjoyable, so that he will continue to feel motivated. I see the effectiveness of reviewing the material and learning the subject in different ways, so a unique style is beneficial and effective.
