Experience Summary
As a college graduate with my BA, I am very interested in continuing my education. I would like to tutor while I move forward towards my Masters Degree. I have a degree in creative writing but I have also taken many classes in technical writing and liturature classes and would feel helpful tutoring in those subjects. I have learned extensive writing skills through writing many, many papers and feel confident that I can teach others these skills. I also have learned how to closely read and critically look at liturature. In the last four years I have tutored fellow students and younger children in reading, writing, and various college literature, writing, and technical classes.
Teaching Style
I believe that not all people learn the same. I certainly learn differently depending on the subject. I also know that reading and writing papers can be a scary task. I specialize in close reading, which means getting students to understand what they are reading and come up with a topic for a paper. I feel that taking a book one small part at a time will help to understand the whole. I believe the best way to learn the skills of reading and writing is to discuss books and topics with others. I am easy going and patient, and most importantly I have a real love for reading, writing, and teaching.
