Experience Summary
I have twenty years experience teaching biology, environmental science, anatomy and physiology and other life sciences.
I was working on a PhD at Louisiana State University, however I realized that I was much happier teaching than doing research and I accepted this teaching position at Southeastern. I would like to return to teaching at a community college rather than do research or teach at a large four year institution. I have always derived great satisfaction from the success of my students. I believe it is the job of the instructor to share knowledge and teach skills. The measure of instructor success is student success.
Teaching Style
I love biology. You will too. My students will become experts in their fields, but they are not there yet. It is not my style to throw them in the deep end and hope they can hear me yelling commands. It is my style to jump in and swim with them until they take off on their own.
It is my desire to teach because it is here that I can know my students and personally be a part of their success. Many of them will become successful and stay in the community. I will see them in the supermarket. I will always be reminded of whether I have done my job. Others will go on to four year schools and become research scientists. Those I will read about to my next group of students.
