Experience Summary
I have 14 years experience in elementary education, specifically teaching 2nd and 4th grades and kindergarten. I have 15 years experience in higher education administration leading workshops on goal setting and setting priorities, study skills, time management. I also have 10 years experience in private tutoring. I did this part time while teaching. I have tutored students in grades K-8 in all subjects including writing and study skills. I am certified in the state of PA, hold a B.S. in Music Education and have over 40 graduate credits in Elementary and Technology Education. I have also received the status of Highly Qualified Teacher by completing a program through The American Board for Certification in Teacher Excellence.
Teaching Style
As a teacher there is nothing more rewarding than the look on a child's face when a skill is mastered or a mystery becomes an understood concept. This is what attracted me to the field of education and what has kept me here. I am also fully aware that each student does not reach this level of mastery by following the same path. I believe one of my greatest strengths as a teacher is to be able to change this path for each student. I am aware of the different ways children learn, and seek to incorporate examples of these learning styles into each lesson. I also know it is important to keep the learning at a level that ensures success to foster confidence while providing enough of a challenge to keep the student's interest.
