Experience Summary
I was fortunate to receive a very distinguished education through a local school of the Arts program and an Ivy League institution. Both experiences produced within me a tenacious commitment to academic excellence, creative expression, and a strong desire to give back to my community. As a result, I have dedicated several years to serving the community in an educational capacity. I have tutored/taught students in grades pre-k to high school (including students with disabilities), in the subjects of math, ELA, science, social studies, and life skills. In addition, I am a prolific writer, and my literary skills have been utilized by employers for script/form letter writing and the production of staff training materials.
Teaching Style
I respect all children and the variety of ways in which they learn. I firmly believe that children (by nature) are curious about learning and therefore, capable of learning when presented with an engaging program of study. My instructional approach often entails the use of games, as a medium to stimulate my students. In addition, I always strive to enhance my students’ self-esteem, because I believe in them and their abilities. My objective as a tutor is to utilize the teaching strategies that I have acquired, in conjunction with my knowledge about your child (his/her interests and learning preferences) to develop a teaching plan that will take him/her to the next level of his/her education.
