Experience Summary
As an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin, I worked as a writing assistant in the Academic Resource Center assisting students with reading, writing and grammar. I have home schooled my two children for over 10 years using an original curriculum as well as purchased curricula. In addition, I have volunteered for the past three years at the local public library, tutoring writing, reading and math to adults. I have thus worked with children and adults of all ages and skill levels.
Teaching Style
Knowledge is not something to be horded. I think we each have a responsibility to share what we know. I love to help people understand. I prefer to teach by lecturing,but I realize that individuals learn subjects individual ways, and thus as a tutor my task is to be clear and patient. From working with different people at different levels, I also know that to be successful I have to be flexible and creative, adapting my teaching style to the students' learning ability and personality.
