Experience Summary
I am returning to teaching after years in sales and marketing and now find I have a burning desire to help young people.
My teaching career is varied- I have taught very diverse student populations, and age groups from Kindergarten to College, finding benefits at every stage of development.
I was trained by some of the top people in the education field to diagnose and remediate many basic learning problems in reading, math and language.
Currently I am teaching remedial reading at a local community college and have received high marks in peer and student evaluations.
Teaching Style
I love to teach and my students tell me that it shows. I like to evaluate the student to see where they have strengths and weaknesses and how they best respond to instruction. I take skills and break them down to small pieces, to give the student a feeling of success and mastery which can propel them to strive and succeed. I value a lot of positive reinforcement and do my best to provide a positive, active and stimulating learning environment.
I have come to realize what a fragile thing teaching is and how important it is to create an environment of success, and a "yes, I can" feeling to encourage the student to keep going in their efforts.
