Experience Summary
10 Years of teaching Math experience at the Junior High and Senior High level. I taught Basic Standards Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and ACT Test Prep. Through my Master's Coursework, I integrated the Cognitive Tutor which was a computer program that assisted with the thought process in problem solving. Through the 5 years that I used it, students' interest in Math had risen while still competing with traditional chalk board styles of teaching.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one of real life applications, fun, and making it understandable. For example, when discussing slope, we can study downhill skiing or rooftops. When solving equations, I approach it from unraveling a number trick. I prefer to coach students on how to approach problems, and design which questions to ask themselves, rather than memorizing a list of techniques whenever possible. My funny and outgoing style blends well with all learning styles and personality types.
