Experience Summary
My life centers on education. In grade school, I tutored students in English, & math. During college, I was a student teacher, & an America Reads tutor. This refined my skills in phonics, decoding, & reading comprehension. My majors in elementary education and biology helped me fuse my two passions: education and the sciences. As an educator, my expertise in teaching others how to read & become proficient writers has only grown. I facilitate science experiments by incorporating mathematic strategies. My daily routine consists of teaching students, ages 8- 11, the areas of reading, language arts, mathematics, science, & social studies. I’m currently certified to teach grades Kindergarten through 6th grades.
Teaching Style
Teaching’s my passion. As an avid reader, knowledge to learn & grow as an individual is key. Using research-based teaching methodologies increases my students’ maximum learning potential. Students should become confident, productive citizens. It’s important to create the right environment where students are engaged in learning. Visuals like photographs, drawings, & students’ artifacts are displayed in my class. By creating a comfortable space, students learn from myself & each other. Trust between teacher & learner allows me to learn more about them. I teach lessons using many styles that target different types of learners such as manipulatives, literature, & technology. I’m satisfied when students become independent learners.
