Experience Summary
During my undergraduate career, I was a teaching assistant for Physical Science and General Biology for two years. My responsibilities included teaching several lectures, the grading and any extra assistance needed by the students. After graduating, I taught High School chemistry for the Biola STAR program. During this time, I also tutored at a learning center in Fullerton. In 2007, I taught 3 sections of general chemistry lab at CSULB. I then moved to the education department at the Aquarium of the Pacific, and worked with the public there for 4 months before moving into a management position. I have obtained my B.S. in Biochemistry, and am currently pursuing my M.S. in Biology at Loma Linda University.
Teaching Style
Teaching is one of my passions, and I intend to teach at the college level after obtaining my M.S. My fourth grade teacher sparked my love of science at an early age; she was so excited about the material and invested in us that we couldn't help but learn. This experience instilled in me a desire to share my passion for academia, specifically chemistry and biology, with others. I believe that a passionate, invested teacher can do much to influence and encourage students. Because of my familiarity with the sciences, I am able to explain one concept in many different ways. I like to guide my students and help teach them to think for themselves. I believe that this will ultimately equip them to be successful in all their future endeavors.
