Experience Summary
After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, I determined that I wanted to pursue a teaching career. I enrolled in the Master’s in Elementary Education program at the University of Phoenix. My work in elementary schools has been as a paraeducator, both as an instructional para with general classroom duties and as an intensive special needs para. This experience has allowed me to work with students with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and various other disabilities. I am currently student teaching in kindergarten, and will be graduating and moving to Colorado Springs at the end of May. I will begin teaching in August, but would love to spend some time tutoring during the summer!
Teaching Style
My teaching style is patient and caring, while being consistent with expectations. I believe the role of a teacher is to facilitate learning. Differentiating for students according to their individual needs and learning styles is at the forefront of my teaching. I believe in combining academic support with manipulatives and physical exercises, i.e. Brain Gym activities. Overall, I utilize as many strategies as possible to determine the most successful support for individual students. My goal as a teacher is to encourage students to succeed at their individual potential and to instill genuine a love of learning in my students.
