Experience Summary
As a student at the University of Houston I earned a scholarship each semester through the Scholar Enrichment Program. It was based off of a students academic performance each semester and it would require me to tutor other students in classes I performed well in. I tutored students in General Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics. I also have a minor in history and health so I can help students with those courses as well. I also have two publications with my name on them from research I have conducted at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is to engage the student in learning. I begin by a review of the material to see how much the student knows. Then I get the student involved in learning by practicing. From my experience, repitition will not only help the student to remember the information but help them to become a more dedicated student. I believe in positive reinforcement and encouragement. I believe a student can achieve anything if they put their minds to it because I was one who also needed help to achieve my goals.
