Experience Summary
As a Purdue graduate and future Indiana University medical school student, I have always and will continue to be a motivated and high-achieving student. I recently earned a BS in Biology, with extensive knowledge in all basic sciences and math. I genuinely love learning and have taken a variety of courses beyond my required course load in such subjects as psychology, political science and social work. During the past five years I have tutored high school and college-age students in English Composition, Math, Biology and Chemistry. I have taken four semesters of German throughout high school and college, so I am qualified to assist with basic German. I also have experience working with younger students as a camp counselor.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and find that I, as well as my students, learn by teaching and interactively asking questions and seeking answers together. I believe that all students learn differently, so I try to use a varied approach of general lecture review, drawing visual aids, asking students to teach me a concept, developing ideas in multiple processes and working through problem sets. I am very laid back, patient and accepting. I know that I learn best using techniques different than others, so if a student is not achieving his or her potential, they simply might need a new technique. All students can learn if they are given the opportunities and resources.
