Experience Summary
I recently relocated to Portland from the New York City / New Jersey area after working in the e-marketing department at Carnegie Hall. I've studied piano throughout my life, starting at age 7, and graduated Westminster Choir College in Princeton NJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2005. While at Westminster, much of the curriculum I studied was focused on music education and piano pedagogy. I have experience teaching private piano lessons to all ages (as young as 5 and as old as 70), teaching music in elementary school classes, and tutoring other college students. In addition, I have been working for the past several years in the technology / IT field and have a lot of experience with all aspects of technology.
Teaching Style
My entire life has been surrounded by both music and technology and I'm looking to share that with my students. In terms of musical instruction, though the particular curriculum I use varies from student from student, I am a firm believer in first connecting to music they already know and using that as a starting point to get them invested in the music. In terms of technology and other instruction, my number one goal is making sure that the student understands the particular subject before moving onto other, harder subjects.
