Experience Summary
I am a certified art teacher in Pennsylvania. I have one year of classroom experience teaching art in Philadelphia public schools. My relevant art skills include drawing, painting, photography, video, design, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, installation art. I have a good level of art history knowledge. I have experience critiquing, researching and assessing art. I have taught young children, teenagers and adults.
Teaching Style
I believe the purposes of art education are to help students develop creative, critical, and analytical skills, while gaining enriching experiences and exercising communication skills. Through art education, students will become aware of their thoughts about art in order to develop an art aesthetic. I support an art education program that is multidisciplinary, teaching art studio, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics through visual, oral, written and performance methods. Students will learn how to communicate and how to put thoughts and feelings about art into words. I want my students to gain an appreciation for art and the social and cultural context in which art is made.
