Experience Summary
From my elementary school Swahili classes in Kenya, I have always been fascinated by other languages. During the past few years, I have been able to combine my passion for teaching with this interest in language study. By exploring more than 5 foreign languages and working as an editor, I have laid a solid foundation for sharing my love of language with others. I have taught Greek and Spanish in addition to tutoring English as a Second Language to adult business professionals for more than 5 years.I have had the privilege of tutoring ESL students from Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America and have been tutoring SAT, ACT, and GRE for high school and graduate-level students.
Teaching Style
I believe in facilitating the learning process by asking questions and exploring answers with the student, thus teaching him or her the process of discovering correct answers and affirming his or her capacity for independent action, initiative, and responsibility. I work together with each student to identify his or her primary learning style and then incorporate appropriate exercises to reinforce the content.
