Experience Summary
Debbie Willey teaches Introduction to Online Learning, Introduction to Adult Studies, Art Appreciation, Introduction to Art, Management and Organizational Development. Currently, she is a guest lecturer for the University of Nebraska in the field of Art Education and she teaches business classes for Kaplan University. When Debbie is not drawing, painting, teaching, writing, studying or fixing computer/network problems, she is enjoying being with her best friend and husband; together, they enjoy, history, crime stories, learning and experiencing life.
Teaching Style
An instructor, one must create a safe environment that is interactive and collaborative and that promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills. By giving students a voice in class, not only do the students benefit from peer-peer learning by enriching the course material with personal experiences and knowledge, but they also take responsibility for their own learning and, therefore, enhance the integration of their new knowledge into practice. To create a safe learning environment, I encourage students to ask questions and give their views on the material we are covering. I create assignments that improve students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
