Experience Summary
I have experience in assisting speakers of other languages, primarily Spanish, become more familiar with the English language. I previously participated with a Reading-Buddy program at Fourth Street Elementary School in Athens, GA to improve reading skills among children of Latino heritage. Also, currently I meet with a Peruvian woman once a week to tutor her in English. I also have 5 years experience as a patient-physician liaison for Spanish-speaking patients.
Teaching Style
I have always had a passion for working with children and encouraging a warm and positive atmosphere in which to thrive. My style is to break information down to simple ideas and slowly build upon those ideas and eventually connect the larger picture. I am often described as kind, energetic, positive, and supportive in how I interact with people. My belief is that with patience, encouragement and practice goals can be achieved.
