Experience Summary
As a student in the Elementary Education program at University of Phoenix I completed 13 weeks of teaching to a first grade class in 2004. I also tutored multiple students at that time at two different elementary schools.
In 2009 I tutored two boys, ages eight and ten, in multiple subjects for approximately three months, with up to three sessions a week.
I have an affinity for Science, Writing, English Composition, Spelling, Speech, and languages; I speak and understand Spanish on an intermediate level.
Teaching Style
To me, the best thing about teaching and tutoring is those teachable moments when you can practically see the light bulb go on in a childs head, as they finally realize they get it and are so proud of themselves! I like to involve my students as much as possible in talking problems or ideas out, and encourage them to discover the answers by thinking outside the box and looking at things from multiple perspectives. I like to use examples and visual aids as much as possible.
