Experience Summary
I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Art and History. My areas of interest in the fine arts include painting, illustration, and photography. I work with media such as oil, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, and canté. I have held a number of positions in art museums and galleries. In addition, I have organized and taught a children’s art class at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. The class, titled “Art with Randi”, taught young artists the basic elements and principles of art and design. I also oversaw the evening photography sessions during my undergraduate, assisting peers with photography development.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children of all ages. I consider myself patient and understanding. Although I have my own style of art that I practice, I encourage children to express their own creative art styles. While teaching, I explain techniques and then give examples, making sure the student understands. Once he or she begins the project, I give positive feedback that will help with the overall understanding and quality of the project. It is extremely important for young artists to develop techniques and knowledge of art that will enhance their overall artistic ability.
