Experience Summary
I graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. While pursuing my degree, I took a position as a tutor helping my fellow students with accounting and math. After my first year as a tutor, I increased my responsibilities by assisting other tutors with their techniques and skills in addition to guiding my own tutoring sessions. After graduation, I have worked with financial accounting, fund accounting, and the banking industry.
Teaching Style
As a tutor in college, our philosophy was to show the students how to learn the subject matter by incorporating memorization games and problem solving techniques for the classes that they were having difficulty with. I believe that communication is key to the student’s success. I would discuss with the student what they are having difficulty with and then develop tutoring sessions around those needs. I will adapt my sessions to reflect the changes in the student’s requirements.
