Experience Summary
I am French born and educated, with an MA in English from the Institut Catholique de Paris. Married to an Englishman, with two grown-up daughters, I have lived in California for the past 13 years, prior to which we lived in the UK. My experience includes work for the language department of Cricklade College, Andover, UK. I also worked for Langnet (a company specializing in teaching languages to business professionals) and taught private lessons to a range of people from young children through students, adults, professionals, military, and retired people with holiday homes in France! Prior to all this, I worked a number of years for the medical and TV broadcast industries, in various roles including marketing, sales and administration.
Teaching Style
Whether the lesson is necessary for academic requirements or for leisure, I have always enjoyed passing my knowledge of the French language and culture to others, adapting my lessons to the level required by the student(s). Not everybody can flourish at the same pace; therefore my patience is an added bonus. I place emphasis on areas that most meet the student need, be it speaking, writing or grammar, and in some cases, culture. I have taught French at exam level as well as casual conversational level. An important part of any first lesson is to assess student need.
