Experience Summary
I have taught and tutored high school and college English for over eight years. I specialize in the areas of English literature, reading comprehension, analytic writing, and ESL. I have won several awards for my teaching and am a tutor internationally certified by the CRLA (College of Reading and Learning Association). Currently, I work as Instructor of English at Florida Atlantic University and as Assistant Director of the writing center at Florida Atlantic University.
Teaching Style
I believe the best teachers do three things: 1)establish supportive, personal relationships with students, 2) set high standards from the beginning, and 3)give their students the skills set and the emotional confidence to attain those standards. These strategies have been consistently successful over the years, substantiated by my many students who move from barely passing grades to A's within a semester. I believe in using creative teaching techniques that lead students through the process of discovery so that they develop success as learners and confidence as people.
