Experience Summary
I am blessed to easily learn foreign languages, and to excel in writing and composition. My native language is Spanish, but English, French and Italian followed suit over the years.
I taught both adults and children in my earlier years, and later returned to school to focus on technology and web development. Since receiving a master's degree of Information Science in 2002, I have worked as a web administrator in a university. My experience there has included professional presentations of my work at regional and national conferences.
Teaching Style
In my areas of expertise (college-level writing, foreign languages, and web technology), I believe the best method is to "learn by doing". I am supportive of using traditional learning methods, such as textbook and supplemental information reading; however, I believe that a successful learning experience is possible when complemented with real-world practice.
Depending on the student's personality, learning style, and the subject at hand, I like to think up ways to retain the student's interest and focus. If sitting at desk is best for the student who needs help with writing a paper, that's what I do. If a busy adult who needs help with French can profit from conversing in French while we walk her dog, I am thrilled to comply.
