Experience Summary
I have had extensive education in Math and Physics through college and graduate school. I worked as research scientist for 14 years after graduating from school. In the past seven years, I have been working with children with learning disabilities (autism, etc). I have taught communication, language, self-help, social skills and elementary level academics, using a technique called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I completed my graduate-level ABA course training in 2009, earning a certificate towards the national board certification as a Behavior Analyst. I am also a fluent speaker in Chinese.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with all children, especially those facing challenges in learning. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. When a child fails to achieve certain learning objective, it's the teacher who should be looking for a more effective way of teaching and reaching the child. I am trained in task analysis that ensures your child's success in learning by breaking the task down to smaller units that best fit your child's learning profile and teach them through shaping and chaining. Learning should be fun. I am professionally trained to make your child's learning experience rewarding and to help him/her in maintaining and generalizing skills that ensure future success in life.
