Experience Summary
After a career as a highly successful jewelry designer and manufacturer I sold my company and became an English teacher. I
have always been interested in literature and journalism and while at university I participated in theater and was managing editor for the school newspaper. I began my teaching career at one of the toughest schools in Los Angeles and after following my science teacher wife to San Diego I have enjoyed several long term substitute positons with AP students at the High School Level. I have taught English now for six years to a full range of diversified students from grades six through twelve.
Teaching Style
As a teacher my biggest thrill is helping students reach their goals with clear understanding. Not all students learn the same and so good teachers must have many stategies for diversity in the classroom. With verbal and social skills that elicit trust, I have an ability to teach students that others cannot. I don't ever attempt to mold the student to fit some preconception but rather help the student discover their strengths and deficiencies in such a way as to make their study less daunting and less mystifying. In this way the student will become a more successful learner.
