Experience Summary
As an Honors graduate of Boston with special emphasis in Music Composition, and a Graduate Teaching Fellow at The University of Chicago, I have both seen, and worked with the best in my field. While not having pursued a teaching certification, I have learned from the best in my field, from professionals who also showed the value of both teaching and mentoring. It has been, and continues to be an inspiration to me.
While I've pursued a professional career in Marketing and Communications, I have used and continue to wish to better leverage my experience in music as a teacher and mentor.
Teaching Style
I have enjoyed three teaching/performance experiences most in my career: working with children, with challenged individuals of any age, and with the very old.
I have an easy-going style that students of any age have always appreciated. I teach through discovery rather than basing learning on established protocol or theory.
My most grounded belief is that we can all benefit from learning something of the arts that can be adopted on a personal level. When that happens, the possibility for personal transformation is dramatically expanded.
This is about making the kind of difference that most interests me.
