Experience Summary
As a graduate of The University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, have extensive background in Music Theory, jazz piano pedagogy, composition and music history. My Certificate in Jazz and Commercial Music was a 2-year intensive course of study of jazz theory, technique, and ensemble work. I've also attended the Jamie Abersold Jazz Camps (University of Louisville, KY) several times where I studied with such jazz luminaries as David Hazeltine, Steve Allee, Andy LaVerne, Phil DeGreg, Todd Hildreth and Chris Fitzgerald.
Teaching Style
Very practical, hands-on approach to becoming a better player and improvisor. I use best-practices from the field of jazz pedagogy: applied theory, chord-scale relationships, ear training, learning repertoire, etc. My artistic goal is to achieve freedom of expression through mastery of proven systems and methods. Anyone can improvise!
