Experience Summary
I have been a department head for the world languages department. I have taught French, German and ESL for the past ten years. I also have served as a member of the Aurora Public Schools Curriculum Council; specifying content standards and reviewing texts; worked as a department head; collaborating with three other teachers; worked closely in professional learning communities; identifying problems in the area of instruction, curriculum or student behavior; and came up with solutions collaboratively.
Teaching Style
I am an innovative language teacher with International Baccalaureate Program experience. I am able to effectively employ speaking, writing, reading, and cultural activities along with TPR Storytelling techniques. I have a personal knowledge of foreign cultures that provides unique perspective for immersion, student-centered learning, and grouping strategies. I also have experience teaching with the Sheltered Instruction Protocol Method (SIOP) in ESL. I am able to approach adult’s needs in one-on-one and small group language instruction.
