Experience Summary
Growing up as a bilingual child I spoke Portuguese and English at home. In 4th grade I had exchange students from Spain who lived in my home and I was beginning to learn my third language, Spanish. I knew Spanish was in my future when I became to interested in the culture and language. I have become a Spanish teacher and LOVE going to work everyday. I find it an incredible experience to share my interest with many students and I challenege myself to get them to appreciate the many aspects of the culture and language. I have tutored all levels of my carrer- high school, college, and post graduating. I have also tuahgt during college many times and now do as a profession.
Teaching Style
I love to teach but primarily, I am a hands on teacher. Through my experience, I have learned the importance of reaching all types of learners. I identify my learners right from the beginning and understand if they are visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. Based on my findings, I combine different teaching strategies. Many students struggle with a different language because they often compare it to their primary language. I try to make students understand that it is a language all on its own and we must not compare or judge, but embrace it and do the best we can to understand it and the cultures that come with it. I do my best to make the classroom environment safe and fun so students love coming each and everyday.
