Experience Summary
I have obtained a Bachelors of Science from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay with vast course experience in chemistry, biology, physics and math. For approximately one year, I participated in an athletic tutoring program at UWGB where I assisted athletes in various areas of study. In addition to my experience assisting students, I have worked at a day care center where I have aided in the development of cognitive and language skills with young children. These experiences have provided me patience, knowledge and understanding allowing me to assist individuals with various learning styles and depths of knowledge.
Teaching Style
I feel it is important for students to learn not only what the answer is to a given question, but also understand the concepts and reasoning behind the answer. With this in mind, my teaching style usually walks a student through a concept thoroughly, utilizing problems to guide understanding. I find it beneficial to first gain an perceptive of where the student is at, walk them through the concept, and discuss problems step-by-step until a solution is reached. Once the concept is grasped, I often have students walk through additional problems so the student is assured that they understand the topic. Although this is the style that I have found to be most successful, I am flexible to a student’s needs and their learning style.
