Experience Summary
Certified Level 1 Orff Schulwerk Music Teacher. Experience teaching band, choir, elementary music in the school setting. Private music teacher and voice coach, teaching mainly piano and voice. I am able to coach all instruments. I have continued private study on piano with several master teachers, and have had the privilege of studying with Ralph Votapek, first Van Cliburn competition winner and Marvin Blickenstaff, head of the New School for Music Studies in Princeton and chief editor of the Piano Companion.
Teaching Style
The student's input of what they want to achieve is one of the most important factors in achieving success. Their preferences, likes and dislikes of various kinds of music is taken into consideration when making music selections that they choose to study. Music theory is taught at a practical level and students are also taught about how to go about practicing their assigned music. Orff Schulwerk techniques, Dalcroze Eurthymic technics, and Kodaly techniques are utilized based on student need to enhance student understanding and achieve successful musical performances.
