Experience Summary
In my 23 years as a teacher and administrator, I have been involved in all aspects and levels of education including teaching all grades K-12, instructional and curriculum leadership, professional development, building management, community relations, and student management. Throughout these many experiences I have had a great deal of contact working with all types of students from diverse backgrounds and with various learning styles. I have worked with students in urban, suburban, rural, special education, and alternative settings. My greatest strength, and what I believe sets me apart from many other candidates, is a passion for education coupled with a great joy found in positively impacting the lives of ALL students.
Teaching Style
My underlying belief and philosophy is that all students can learn, and should be allowed to do so in the environment that best suits their own particular learning style. I have a vast knowledge of teaching and learning, and a strong sense of what good teaching looks like. I have developed my own easy going, student centered, and hands-on approach to teaching, and design lessons that answer the inevitable question from students, “When am I ever going to use this stuff?” This simple question drives me as I plan and carry out these lessons, and allows students to actually use what they are learning in the context of real life situations and settings.
