Experience Summary
Through the education minor and other course through UCSC, I was able to volunteer in 2 classrooms (4th and K) while in my undergrad career. It was during this time that I decided that teaching was my passion. After I graduated, I worked at an after school academic program where I prepared and executed hour long reading/writing lessons for K, 1st, and 2nd graders. Through my time at SJSU, I have been in a 5th grade and a 1st grade classroom. I continue to tutor one of my students from the 1st grade class on reading.
Teaching Style
Through my credential program, I am equipped with many resources and ideas to create different lessons to help a student learn. I believe that all students learn differently and we as teachers have to be able to see students' strengths and adapt lessons to all students at all levels in order to best allow students to achieve their very best. I also believe that students learn best when they are able to explore a subject themselves and not straight out of the textbook. When working with students, I strive to present information that students will be able to relate to and learn from their own experiences.
