Experience Summary
I am a recent MBA graduate, with an emphasis in Global Business, and also hold a BA in Finance. My degrees have enabled me to have a strong business background. I have been employed in the Financial Services industry for the last eight years, which has given me an excellent understanding of finance and accounting concepts. Furthermore, my Global Business emphasis included a lot of cross-cultural coursework which enables me to relate to students of different social, cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. While my very first job was tutoring seventh graders while I was still in high school in the late 1990's, most of my teaching experience has come in form of corporate training done the last couple years for the department I managed.
Teaching Style
In my tutoring sessions I first strive to be an active listener. While I may have a specific subject matter that needs to be taught, I find it most important to let the student try to explain as much of the concept as possible on his/her own. This not only helps reinforce their confidence in their own abilities and reiterates concepts they have already learned, but enables me as a tutor to see where they are having the most difficulty, and/or where they may be misguided in their understanding of the subject. From there I take a step-by-step pragmatic approach to addressing their needs and the demands of the subject matter.
