Experience Summary
While earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing, I served as a tutor in general education at the elementary level. I have often contributed to the creation of curriculum materials and grew into creating them myself. I am a published author, have led writing seminars for colleagues, and have apprenticed in editing and publishing houses. After graduating from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, I accepted positions of training, where I educated my co-workers and clients on various tasks and skills in multiple industries. I plan to return to school in Fall 2011 to earn my Doctor of Philosophy in Creative Writing.
Teaching Style
I believe everyone has the ability to learn and that this truth is one of our defining qualities as humans. The problem arises when we expect the human mind to work in the same way in every individual, when we attempt to use the same strategies to teach the differing learning styles. I begin with each person by learning myself. I need to know what learning style works best for that person, what has been tried in the past, and his/her successes and failures. At all times, when one person is working with another, and especially when one is in the position of aiding another, we must only speak those things which encourage and edify. Professionalism, respect, tenderness, and refinement are my trademarks as an instructor.
